On 19th June 2023, it was announced that Prof. Ballet had been awarded the Evotec Prize for Excellence in Molecular Design, awarded under the auspices of the French Medchem Society (Société de Chimie Thérapeutique, SCT). The prize was awarded for Prof. Ballet’s work on the development of Generic G Protein Peptidomimetics Able to Stabilize Active State Gs and Gq Protein-Coupled Receptors for Application in Drug Discovery'.
As the laureate of this year's Award, Prof. Ballet attended a lecture at the 57th edition of the International Conference on Medicinal Chemistry (RICT 2023)(5th-7th July, Lille (FR)), hosted by the SCT. Here, the prize was awarded by Dr. Jean-Yves Ortholand, President of the SCT and Dr. Christophe Boldron, Vice President and Head of Molecular Architects at Evotec. Prof. Ballet was also invited to present a keynote lecture on the research that led to the prize. Prof. Ballet’s lecture covered the whole timeline of scientific discoveries – the development of generic G protein peptidomimetics – that led to this prize as well as their application in drug discovery efforts.
Work continues on this exciting topic to develop generic G protein peptidomimetics for the remaining classes of G protein.
